Enhanced C-band antiphase power combiner/divider

Introduction. In orthomode transducers and antennas with difference patterns there is the requirement of antiphase combining/dividing of electromagnetic waves power in wide operation frequency bands with bandwidth ratio 30% and more. The modern solutions of mentioned task are presented. The characteristics of existent antiphase power combiners/dividers are compared. Wideband antiphase power combiner/divider configuration. The geometrical configura-tion of the wideband antiphase power combiner/divider is presented. The main modification is the introduction of the pair of metal cylinders to obtain good matching performance.
The reflection coefficient minimization. The results of reflection coefficient minimization are presented. The reflection coefficient of optimized configuration is less than -23 dB in the operation frequency band 3.4-5.4 GHz. The comparison of characteristics and sizes at which occurs the reflection coefficient minimum for the antiphase power combiner/divider developed and the prototype is given.
The analysis of matching sensitivity to manufacturing inaccuracies. The results of analysis of reflection coefficient sensitivity to manufacturing inaccuracies are presented. It has been defined that for providing reflection coefficient lower than -22 dB the tolerances are equal ±0.05 mm, and for providing reflection coefficient lower than -21 dB - ±0.10 mm.
Conclusions. General conclusions of the paper are given.
